You would have to agree that Twitter is one of the hottest things going right now in the online marketing world? Everyone and their mother is signing up and getting a Twitter account.  Shouldn’t you be leveraging the power of Twitter for your benefit? Of course!

But what bugs me is there are so many services, software, scripts etc out there dedicated to helping you profit from your Twitter account.. but to benefit from them, you have to pay a monthly fee.  Or if its a one-time payment, its for $197, $297 etc…Not exactly peanuts.  And well, I know for many marketers out there just getting started, they just don’t have the money to invest.  So many don’t even bother with trying to profit from Twitter due to this one little inconvenience..

Twitter is all about relationships and about building a good rapport with those that follow you.  Once you have a loyal following of “fans” you can direct many of them (even hundreds or thousands) to whatever website you want all for FREE!  This is the power of Twitter.. Because if you have a ton of people that look up to you, respect you, or just think the stuff you tweet about is cool… you can get lots of eyeballs to things you recommend.. and lots of eyeballs on whatever website you want could mean lots of profits for you!

If you’re like me, you might have thought or be thinking, “That’s all fine and dandy but who has time to tweet every day and get followers?  I sure don’t!”  Look, I know what you mean.. I am not one of those super Tweeters that are glued to their Twitter accounts all day long.  I’ve got things to do and there are days when I don’t remember to tweet…

Traffic 101

The internet has changed the world forever in so many ways, not least of which is the tremendous opportunity it’s brought to anyone who wants a shot at having their own startup business.
Previously, many many people dreamed of their own business, but had to abandon the idea because of the high costs involved. But now, thousands of people have discovered that they can start an online business with little if any financial capital. Just a desire, and a willingness to work hard, and there are numerous online business models that can be built. Some very successful online businesses have been built, quite literally, out of “thin air”.


NOW, some people have heard about these no-cost or low-cost startup business opportunities, and become very excited at the prospect, only to be disappointed because they then read some ebook or course that they were sold, and if they follow everything recommended to them the costs all of a sudden start piling up: web hosting, graphic design, software, subscriptions to this resource and that resource, and on and on it goes. So much for the free startup opportunity!

But the fact is, you can do without a lot of the things that may be recommended to you, or you find can free versions available on the internet that are perfectly adequate to get you going. I think there are just a couple of things you’re better off to try and afford as a bare minimum – web hosting (you can get it real cheap now, as low as just a few bucks a month), a good autoresponder is also a great investment (I recommend TrafficWave). But after that, you can pretty much do everything for free until your business is on a “pay-in” basis and you can afford some of the tools that make life easier.

Let me get straight to the #1 golden rule of traffic exchanges. Are you ready? The ONLY page you should ever direct traffic to from a Traffic Exchange is a “squeeze page” (also known as an “opt in” page). Any other kind of page, I agree, is completely worthless.
People who surf traffic exchanges are there for ONE reason only. To rack up credits so that their own web site will be visited by others. So they mindlessly click through different pages every 4 to 10 seconds (depending on the time required by the particular traffic exchange).

They have no interest in reading your blog page, or your lengthy sales page. They are not buyers anyway. But if you have an excellent free offer, presented on a squeeze page with a minimum of text (but a nice picture of your free gift),some will stop surfing just long enough to input their email address and download your product. Not many, but some!

From my experience a 0.5% conversion rate is really good on a traffic exchange. My advice is that you be careful about spending hours surfing these sites to rack up credits. It can be a poor use of your valuable time. EITHER pay one of your kids a couple of bucks to sit there in the evening and click for you, OR buy a credit package from the Traffic Exchange. Usually you can get a couple of thousand hits for $5. If you convert at 0.5%, that will give you 10 subscribers. That’s 50c cents each, which compares with what you’ll pay for Pay-Per-Click, etc.

5 No Cost Ways To Get Your Website Noticed

If you own a website then you are certainly concerned with getting it noticed and increasing your traffic. However, you might not have a large budget for advertising or marketing and simply don’t know what to do to get your website noticed without spending a lot of money. Well, the following 5 tips will help your website attract attention without spending any money!

Tip #1 Submit to Directories
Submitting your website to directories is generally free and all you have to do is provide your website’s URL, a brief description, and then your site will be listed in the directory for people to browse. In addition, not only will people be able to browse the listings, but your site will also have more one way links pointing back to your site that will increase your rankings in the search engines.

Tip #2 Submit to Search Engines
If you want to get your site noticed then you want to make it easy on web surfers to find your site. So, submit your site to the search engines to have it indexed. Then , when people search the web for certain keywords they just might find your site and drop by to take a look.

Tip #3 Reciprocal Links
Reciprocal links are another good idea if you are interested in increasing your search engine rankings. Simply trade links with other websites and you host their link on your site and they host your link on their site. This does not take much effort or time and once you have the links you will basically have free advertising.

Tip #4 Include Your URL Everywhere
Your URL needs to be on all types of communication you use. For example, make sure your URL is included on your stationary, business cards, in all of your e-mails, and the like. When your URL is posted everywhere you will surely increase your site’s traffic.

Tip #5 Email List
You can create an email list from all the visitors that have visited your website and periodically send them updates advertising different services or specials. Make it easy to unsubscribe, too. Before you know it you will have more people visiting your site and others recommending your site as well.

Basic Affiliate Marketing

When you’re just getting starting in Affiliate Marketing, one of the most important things you need to learn about is traffic – specifically what it is and how to get it.

Why?

Because although it’s become somewhat of a cliche these days, the truth is, “the money is in the list” – but that means YOUR list, not the list of the people whose products you’re selling – at least not if you want to be successful.

Here’s why.  As an affiliate, your job is to find people who want to buy the products you’re promoting, right?  So to do that, you need to write an ad (or hire a copywriter to write it for you), and send people to a Website where they can buy the product.

BUT – there’s a serious problem with using this method.  Do you see what it is?

Anywhere from 60 to 95% of the people you send to the sales page probably aren’t going to buy the first time.

1. Most people want to be certain that they’re making the right decision, so they usually need to see or hear from you between 5 to 12 times before making a buying decision.

2. If you’re paying for the ad and sending people to the seller’s Website, the ones who don’t buy disappear forever. (And neither you nor the seller will benefit.)

3. Of those who do buy, if you’re only sending them to the sales page, YOU still lose them forever because you have no way of knowing who they are.

Here’s the solution:

1. Write your ad and send prospects to a well-written squeeze page – YOUR squeeze page. (A squeeze page is a single page Website that has one purpose – to convince prospects to give you their contact information.  Squeeze pages should be simple – no flash, no links, and if you use a graphic or photo, keep it simple and make sure it relates to the purpose of the page.  How do you convince prospects to give you their contact information?  By giving them information that is what they’re expecting to find and that’s useful to them.)

2. Offer them an incentive to give you their contact information. (This could be a free report, a free newsletter, an audio or video product – just make sure it’s related to the niche or affiliate product.)

3. After they’ve opted in to your autoresponder, send them to your affiliate sales page.

4. Follow up with them on a regular basis – mixing good information, free bonuses from time to time and additional affiliate products.

Lather, rinse, repeat. (Once you’re making money from your first affiliate product, move on to the next and then the next and the next.)

The best thing about this is that you can set most of it up on your autoresponder, so you turn it into a “system” and it runs “almost” on autopilot.  (There is NO SUCH THING as a business that runs 100% on autopilot – and don’t believe anyone who tells you differently.)  Any business – real business – takes work and effort.  But by setting this system up this way, your autoresponder does the majority of the work, and you will only need to do simple updates and make sure you keep fresh information flowing.
